For those who prefer their sports memorabilia have genuine pop culture heft, it's hard to top the "Homer At The Bat" Simpsons episode in Season Three where Mr. Burns hires nine ringers to play for the Springfield Power Plant Softball Team in order to win a $1 million bet from a rival capitalist behemoth. That's where Ozzie and eight other great stars circa 1992 came in and helped out with producing one of the most memorable Simpson's episodes in history, which is saying quite a lot. The recording sessions with the various ballplayers were engineered with varying degrees of difficulty (Canseco was reportedly ordering rewrites and generally playing the diva). All nine are pictured here in this animation cel from the show, along with Homer and Mr. Burns. Show creator Matt Groening autographed the cell, adding the inscription "To Ozzie, From all your fans at The Simpsons." Suffice it to say that this marvelous piece of memorabilia was engineered with the same verve, craftsmanship and attention to detail as the traditional efforts behind the longest-running show on network television. Which is to say it's perfect. The 9-by-10-inch cel is matted and framed in red and white to overall dimensions of 14-by-16 inches. Homer will likely smack himself on the forehead groaning, "Doooh!" once the gavel falls on this one.
