Steve Myland Baseball Collection

Steve MylandSteve MylandThere is no question that Henry Aaron demonstrated his character in light of tremendous adversity as he was approaching Ruth’s all-time career home run record in 1974.  The last player in the major leagues who also played in the Negro Leagues, “Hammerin’ Hank” focused on consistent excellence in a 23-year career with the Braves and Brewers.  Longtime collector and admirer Steve Myland has consigned jersey’s from Aaron’s first and last big league seasons.  Mr. Myland, a well known figure in the field of sports collectibles as owner of the Southwest’s largest wholesale trading card business is also offering a fine selection of items from his vast personal collection relating exclusively to Aaron and Ruth.  Aaron’s post-playing career included a position in the Braves front office and service as director with the Big Brothers and Sisters of America, to whom Myland is donating a portion of the net proceeds from the sale of Aaron’s rookie jersey, a fitting legacy to one of baseball’s most dignified and revered players.

The Steve Myland collection was brought to auction in June of 2006.
