The Marc Lewis Babe Ruth Collection

Central to the December 2004 auction is a Cooperstown caliber assortment of relics related to the New York Yankees, the most dominant franchise in the history of sports.  Babe Ruth, the greatest icon in the history of baseball is the heart and soul of the sale.  The Mark Lewis collection of Babe Ruth memorabilia is a key component.  Lewis, widely known in collecting circles as one of the most dedicated purveyors of significant artifacts related to the Bambino, spent decades amassing his unrivaled collection.  The element most distinguishing about the collection is Mark’s affinity for the unusual.  Lewis says “There are collectors out there who have Ruth signed balls and photos, I have them too, but those aren’t the things that turn me on – for me, it’s got to be unique, it’s got to be something that people say ‘Wow.’  I want the things that no one else has.”  From Babe’s favorite pajamas to a signed photo of Ruth in the bathtub, nobody can deny Lewis’ success in fulfilling his objectives as a collector.  We are proud to present this extraordinary collection, and in doing so reintroduce the collecting community to some of the most interesting and important Babe Ruth object known.
