A key component the December 2005 sale included select rarities from the Hunter Kaplan Collection of sports programs. Comprised of more than 20,000 programs, amassed over the last half century, the Kaplan Collection provides a direct link to nearly every accomplished athlete, coach, team and league in the United States dating back to 1870. The primary focus of Hunter's pioneering collecting efforts was programs and scorecards representing historic events, records and milestones. Many of his most significant finds from a variety of sports (both college and professional) are featured in what is to be the first of several offerings from this collection that will occur over the course of the next few auctions.
