In 1969, the Kansas City Chiefs, coached by Hank Stram, posted an 11-3 regular-season record. In the AFL playoffs, the Chiefs defeated the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Jets, 13-6, before besting the Oakland Raiders in the AFL Championship Game, 17-7. In the fourth annual AFL-NFL Championship Game, now officially known as the "Super Bowl," the Chiefs steamrolled the NFL Champion Minnesota Vikings, 23-7. The game was played on January 11, 1970, at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kansas City quarterback Len Dawson who completed 12 of 17 passes for 147 yards and one touchdown was named the game’s MVP.

This lot features a team-signed white-panel football from that year’s championship squad. The multi-signed Spalding football boasts 41 signatures in different colors of ink including Hall of Famers Dawson, Willie Lanier, Emmitt Thomas, Buck Buchanan, Bobby Bell and Curley Culp. Other notable signatures include that of kicker Jan Stenerud and running back Heisman Trophy winning running back Mike Garrett. Most signatures are clear and legible.
