On January 15, 1967, the Green Bay Packers, led by head coach Vince Lombardi, defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl I by the final score of 35-10. Packers’ QB Bart Starr led the way by completing 16 of 23 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns and was named the game’s MVP. This lot features a pair of unique items commemorating the very first Super Bowl. The first item is a multi-signed, full-size Riddell combination helmet. The right side is red and shows the Chiefs logo while the left side is yellow and shows the Packers’ “G” logo for Green Bay. A total of 31 signatures in black marker adorn the entire helmet and all of the autographs are from members of the winning Green Bay team. Notable signatures include eight Hall of Famers, Starr, Jim Taylor, Willie Davis, Paul Hornung, Forrest Gregg, Dave Robinson, Herb Adderley and Willie Wood. The second part of this lot’s equation comes in the form of two vintage team pennants, one featuring the Green Bay packers (1967) and the other showcasing both combatants in the very first Super Bowl, which was actu8ally called the “AFL-NFL World Championship Game” and was held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Both pennants stretch 30 inches long.
