1995 St. Louis Cardinals white home jersey game worn by Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith, one of the most beloved members of the standout St. Louis Cardinals clubs of the 1980's and 1990's. "The Wizard" was known for his defensive brilliance and set major league records for career assists (8,375) and double plays (1,590) by a shortstop (the latter since broken by Omar Vizquel), as well as the National League record with 2,511 career games at the position. Smith won the NL Gold Glove Award for play at shortstop for 13 consecutive seasons (1980–1992). A 15-time All-Star, he accumulated 2,460 hits and 580 stolen bases during his career, and won the NL Silver Slugger Award as the best-hitting shortstop in 1987. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2002. Inside the left front tail is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with attached flag tags “SET 1 1995” and “42.” Across the front is the team “Cardinals on a Bat” embroidered in red and yellow chain stitch with a navy blue embroidered border. Player No. "1" appears on both the front and back. Player name “O. Smith” appears on back sewn on a white nameplate. All these numbers and letters are done in navy blue on red tackle twill. Jersey displays moderate game use.
