This fine Lou Gehrig autographed photograph by George Burke dates from the 1930s. The black and white 8"x10" image of Gehrig smiling is signed at the lower right corner, "To Fred - With 2000 thanks and sincere appreciation - Lou Gehrig". The black fountain pen salutation and signature remain extremely bold, rating 9 out of 10. The Fred from whom the photo originates was a cartoonist and caricaturist whose published piece celebrating the occasion of Gehrig's 2000th career hit caught the attention of the Yankees star. Gehrig's salutation "With 2000 thanks..." is an acknowledgment of the artwork he so admired. The photograph shows minimal wear with one 2 1/4" crease across the lower left corner which does not break the paper of the photo image. A superb Gehrig autographed Burke portrait in all respects, including identifiable source provenance. Frame Dimensions 13”x14.5” Displays EX condition. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA noting an autograph grade of MINT 9.
