In 1962, Don Drysdale turned in a fabulous season as the Los Angeles Dodgers top right-hander. He recorded 25 victories for the Blue Crew as the team finished as runners-up in the National League standings, one game behind the first-place San Francisco Giants. Drysdale led the league with 41 starts, struck out a league-high 232 batters and pitched a league-high 314.1 innings. To no one’s surprise, the 25-year-old intimidator was named winner of the Cy Young Award as the N.L.’s top pitcher. This lot features a special plaque that Drysdale received following that season from the So. California Hot Stove League as they named his “MAJOR LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE YEAR.” The specially engraved plaque, which is dated January 16, 1963, measures 15” high by 9.5” wide.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
