Outstanding oversize 6" by 9 1/2" full color cabinet of tragic Hall of Famer Ed Delehanty. The Duke cabinets are among the most popular of all 19th Century issues. Delehanty was in his prime during this period batting less than .368 only once between 1893 and 1899 while topping .400 twice. The image of Delehanty is striking almost as if it were a color photograph. Three corners have some wear with light chipping. The upper left corner has a hardly noticeable crease with a bit more wear. Back is relatively clean aside from two 1" by 2 1/2" size places where the cabinet was probably attached in an album. One diagonal crease at back left bottom is barely visible on the front and does not touch the image. A very rare and beautiful piece.
