This uniquely shaped vintage bat features a distinctive large, rounded knob. Designed to provide "balance" in swinging, this feature lends an unusual quality of appearance. The bats overall rich, deep color provides tremendous visual appeal. Moderate use, including ball and cleat marks, is evident on the surface of the beautifully preserved 32", 40-oz. bat. The manufacturer's stamping reads "J.F. Hillerich & Son." This aspect clearly dates the club to the turn of the century, likely between 1897 and 1905. ("H&B" partner Frank Bradsby's name didn't appear on the well-established Louisville concern's products until 1916.) A very rare type bat in showpiece condition.
