Extremely rare 1909 World Series Program between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers for the games played in Detroit at Bennett Park, home of the Tigers. Colorful front cover features a Bengal Tiger holding pennants of both teams in it's mouth. Inside front cover has 18 advertisements from businesses in the Detroit area. Page 3 finds a full page team photo of the Detroit Tigers with all players in suits. At the bottom all are identified. Center page score sheets are not scored with all starters and main pitchers printed in the program. Next and final page of this offering has a collage of portrait photos of all members of the Pirates with each identified at the bottom of the page. Many of these images (Wagner, Clarke, Willis, Gibson, etc.) are the same ones which would be used in the famed T206 tobacco card series. 1909 marked the only time that the 2 greatest players in the game, Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb, would ever meet on the baseball field. Sure enough the Series would go 7 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates coming out on top 4 games to 3. Honus Wagner shined for the Pirates, batting .333 with 6 RBI, 4 runs scored, and 6 stolen bases. Babe Adams was the pitching stat winning 3 games without a loss. Cobb led the Tigers with 6 RBI, but could only manage a .231 average. Back page/cover is missing with the spine reinforced with vintage tape to hold the front cover on. Front cover has several creases with 3 bottom end tears, none longer than 3/4". All things considered, still a significant rarity from one of most memorable World Series in Baseball History.
