Presented is a remarkably well-preserved OAL ball and its original box hailing from Ban Johnson's tenure as League President, though lacking his facsimile signature. We believe this particular style of "REACH" baseball was employed in Junior Circuit contests in 1910 primarily. The second of seven different Reach Co. designs (the entirety of which were unveiled from the AL's inception in 1901 through the manufacturer's final year of affiliation with the League in 1973), the offered sphere bears the notation of "PAT'D AUG.31-09" within the stamping. This clean, near-white baseball features alternating red and blue stitching and its blue stampings remain bold and vibrant. Some subtle scattered abrasions on the surface suggest the ball may have benefited from a cleaning at some point. Accompanying is the ball's original box and interior tissue. Boasting its content as "THE OFFICIAL BALL OF THE WORLD'S SERIES," the tan-colored, cardboard container remains in apparent VG/EX condition with several tears to the sides and top flaps having been stabilized by brown conservation tape on the interior. A scarce Deadball era artifact with outstanding display quality.
