A remarkable turn-of-the-century artifact, this rare flat-top football helmet presents in excellent condition, a true condition anomaly for helmets from this early era. Just as notable, the Wright & Ditson logo is visible on the cloth section near the right back portion; the inner wool lining shows the expected wear but remains complete, likewise the leather ear holes pieces show a good deal of wear and even some fabric loss but remain largely intact. Unlike so many examples of this kind of early helmet, there are no loose or detached parts, ink writing or initials; simply put, a remarkably clean example of an important early artifact in a condition rarely encountered.
