Given their extraordinary footprint on the the landscape of Major League Baseball, it probably shouldn't be surprising that the team was also at the forefront in honoring great players from the past, perhaps because they had so many. In 1956, Yankee greats and White Sox stars were honored at a Aug. 25 Old-Timer's Day program that included presentation of these elegant 12-inch in diameter sterling-silver commemorative plates. The Wallace Sterling plate is engraved with details of the Old-Timer's Day, including the site and date, positioned above an intricate engraving of Yankee Stadium. "William Dickey" is engraved in all-caps letters beneath the artwork. The plate itself is in excellent condition, reveailing only the kind of tarnishing that might be expected after a half century. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Dickey Family.
