This is a marvelous old-time auction lot that holds fascinating twists and turns at every juncture. There are autographed 8-by-10's from the likes of Joe DiMaggio (twice), Bob Feller, Lou Boudreau, Edd Roush and others, plus a cool Ex-Mt Sports Illustrated with Mantle and Mays on the cover (and Ueberroth, too), signed by the Hall of Famers. Additionally, there are several groups of correspondence from the likes of Rube Walberg and Fred Snodgrass, a multi-signed HOF souvenir program from 1985, about a dozen or more return envelopes with HOF and major star cuts, an Ernie Harwell signed schedule card and even a Harry Hooper signed personal check and a copy of Leo Durocher's autobiography "Nice Guys Finish Last," that is signed by the The Lip. And we're not finished yet either. The final piece is a spectacular group of about 170 3-by-5-index index cards, with super autographs cuts from major stars and Hall of Famers (about two dozen) from mostly the 1930s-60s, a group that includes Satchel Paige and Arnold Palmer. While the whole grouping is almost exclusively baseball, we figured Arnie deserved a nod no matter how he got here.
