In his 23rd season—and second tour of duty with the San Diego Padres—Rickey Henderson was still giving opposing pitchers a collective headache (albeit in small doses). Offered here is the signed bat with which Henderson delivered what was home run number 3 of that 2001 season. This 34", 31-1/2-oz. "Louisville Slugger" block letter (first initial, last name) "C271" model is of white ash with a black finish. Situated between the centrerbrand and manufacturer's stampings is Henderson's silver Sharpie signature and inscription of "HR 3 2001." Inscribed in the same medium within the cupped ending is "C271" and Henderson's uniform number "24." Penned in gold-colored ink on the knob is the bat's model number, measurement and weight. There is nearly 3" of white tape (soiled from use) at the handle's base. The uncracked item reveals evidence of light use, with ball and surface marks about the barrel's reverse and pine tar residue on the handle. The bat comes with ideal provenance in the form of a signed LOA from Rickey Henderson himself.
