It is difficult to overstate the significance of a game-worn rookie jersey from Reggie Jackson's rookie season in 1967, a museum-worthy specimen of dramatic historical import from one of the great sluggers of the postwar era. Making his big-league debut in June of 1967, Jackson was assigned No. 31; sent down after a month or so, he would return to the big club in September when rosters expanded, this time assigned the No. 9 that would be so recognizable for his years as a member of the Oakland A's 1970's dynasty that grabbed a startling three World Series crowns in a row from 1972-74. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" Size 44 manufacturer’s tag. Below is the year embroidered green-on-gold "67 - 2" tagging. On the left chest is the team "L" logo from the Oakland affiliate at Lodi, where detailed documentation explains the jersey would have been used in 1969 (hence the Major League Baseball 100th Anniversary logo patch that appears on the front of the jersey above the No. 31). Player No. 31 appears on both the front and back. All numbers and letters are done in green-on-white tackle twill. The jersey shows outstanding game use and appears to be essentially as-issued and problem-free. Accompanied by an LOA from MEARS that includes extensive explanation of the jersey's history and use, awarding it an A7 designation. Additional documentation includes a photocopy of a newspaper story from June 11, 1967, showing Jackson in a uniform with No. 31 on the vest, a photo copy of an A's souvenir program scorecard from June 25 1967 showing Jackson listed in the roster section as No. 31 and hand-printed as No. 31 in the scorecard that has been carefully rendered. The iconic "A" A's cursive letter that would have typically been found on the game-worn jersey in 1967, is also included in the lot and is from the period. Jackson has signed the jersey right below the "L" "My 1967 game worn Rookie Jersey Reggie Jackson" in strong 8-9/10 black felt tip pen.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Reggie Jackson. Full LOA from MEARS A7
