Vintage type I photo, cut down to a size of about 4 1/4" by 6 1/2", picturing legendary Boston Red Sox fireballer Smokey Joe Wood throwing during the 1912 World Series against the New York Giants. After a 34-5 regular season that included 10 shutouts, Wood led Boston to the World Championship by defeating New York 3 times. Photo has been glued to a larger, 5 1/2" by 8" piece of manila paper. In pencil on front border someone has written "BSEBALL - Joe Wood, Boston, 1912 World Series". Back of card identifies it as belonging to "Culver Pictures, Inc" New York, NY. 10011.
