The crown jewel of the “Southern Fairway Find”, this is one of two examples of the legendary T210 Old Mill Joe Jackson card yielded from a modest cache of scarce 8th Series cards from of the distinctive 1910 minor league tobacco issue. Jackson is pictured as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans, before the start of his extraordinary and tragic baseball career. A year after this card was produced “Shoeless Joe” would burst on the major league scene in 1911 by belting .408 in his first full season with Cleveland. His .356 lifetime average would have automatically guaranteed him a spot in the Hall of Fame, were it not for his involvement in the infamous 1919 Black Sox scandal that would usurp his legacy.

Conservatively graded FR PSA 1.5(MK) this card is extremely well centered with eye appeal that appears inconsistent with the label it shares encapsulation with. The image of Jackson is rendered with crystal clarity. Both the front and back are relatively clean with most of the red border along the front edges in tact. Corners show honest wear to a degree of about fair-good overall. The reason for the (MK) qualifier are 3/8” tall impressions of numbers “8” and “11” that appear to have been written at one time on the card which are now only indentations. The background location of these marks provides little distraction. Although graded a half a notch lower with a qualifier, this well centered beauty actually displays much better than the GD 2 example that sold in our November sale for over $96,000 from this same source. A baseball card treasure of the highest order, this beautiful T210 Joe Jackson card is being introduced to the hobby here for the first time.
