Newly inducted (posthumously) Basketball Hall of Famer Zelmo Beaty played professionally from 1962-75 with the St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks, Utah Stars (ABA) and then the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1975-76, he served as head coach of the Virginia Squires during their last season in the ABA. He once won an ABA Championship with the Utah Stars in 1971 and was named the ABA Playoffs MVP that same year. He played in two NBA All-Star games (1966 and ‘68) and was a three-time ABA All-Star. In 1997, he was selected as part of the ABA All-Time Greatest Team.

Presented here is Beaty’s 1971 game worn ABA All-Star red satin shorts with one white tackle twill star featured on either thigh. It includes the proper “Rawlings manufacturer’s tag [size] 40with number 31 written in black marker on the washing instructions tag. The shorts feature vertical white stripes with a white tackle twill star on each side and a white elastic waistband. Zelmo played in three different ABA All-Star Games and these shorts match up perfectly with his pair from the ABA’s 1971 West All-Star Team (his first).

Includes LOA from the Beaty Family (NOTE: shorts misidentified as his St. Louis Hawks shorts).
