This striking bronze statue picturing the legendary quarterback Bart Starr and two young children is presented annually to an NFL player who best exemplifies outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community. The winner is announced at the annual Super Bowl Breakfast, an NFL-sanctioned event hosted by Athletes in Action, the sports ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. The award, bearing the name of the Pro Football Hall of Famer, honors Starr’s lifelong commitment to serving as a positive role model to his family, teammates, and community. This 17-inch high trophy weighs in at more than 15 lbs., with the 12-inch bronze sculpture of Starr and the two youngsters resting atop a 5-inch wood base that is 8 inches in diameter. A 6-by-3 1/2 inch plaque at the front notes the name of the award and provides details about criteria for selection, along with the section noting presentation to Moon and the date, January 27, 1994. Virtually all elements are largely as-issued and problem free, save only for some small nicks that appear on the wood base. Moon has added his autograph in over-sized fashion in black Sharpie on the back of the wood base, adding his uniform number inscription.
