In one of the more unique trophies awarded to Warren Moon in his storied career in the National Football League, this Ed Block Courage Award is an annual award presented to selected players in the NFL who are voted by their teammates as role models of inspiration, sportsmanship, and courage. The award features a pewtered full-size football helmet noting the logo of the player's club, resting atop a 12-inch silver loving cup that similar rests atop a 2-inch wood base that is 7 inches in diameter. The inscription on the loving cup reads "1992 Ed Black Courage Award" along with Moon's name. The elegant pewter helmet features the Oilers' raised derrick logo on each side; Moon has added an attractive black Sharpie autograph to the right side front, along with his uniform No. and year of Hall of Fame induction. All elements of the pewter helmet and loving cup appear to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition; there is some very light scuffing that is barely noticeable on the wood base. Named in memory of Ed Block, a beloved humanitarian and trainer for the Baltimore Colts, the award is administered by the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation. Sponsorship proceeds promote the prevention of child abuse by raising awareness of the epidemic and assisting agencies who provide for the care and treatment of abused children.
