1955 marked the first time in franchise history that a World Championship banner would fly over Ebbets Field. What made the World Series victory all the more sweet for the Flatbush faithful was that it came at the expense of their hated cross town rivals the New York Yankees. Offered here is a very unique prototype for what we believe to be an early design concept for the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers championship ring. The gold colored metal "half ring" features a fan of bats over a baseball motif. Four names; Campanella, O'Malley, Reese and Newcombe appear over bats. This prototype could possibly have been a sample used by a jeweler to solicit the coveted job of making the official championship rings for the Dodgers. A very intriguing piece that would enhance any significant sports jewelry collection.
