Presented here are three football legends with special ties to their playing days with the New York Giants. Gifford (D. '15) and Summerall (D. '13) starred on the field, but became better known as broadcasting icons, especially for their NFL telecasts, where their decades of smooth delivery into our homes became part of the soundtrack of our lives. Tittle (D. 17) was the NFL MVP in 1963 while quarterbacking the Giants.
These delightful cards were inked in vintage ballpoint and are nicely authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
Provenance: Our consignor collected sports autographs in the late 1960’s through the mid-1970’s while living in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Along with getting autographs at Cincinnati Bengals training camp, Cincinnati Royals NBA games, Cincinnati Reds games and opponents Cincinnati team hotels, he was active mailing to players during these years, including their sports cards, magazine photos and index cards to be signed and returned in stamped self-addressed envelopes. While he quit collecting in the mid-1970's, he always kept his collection nearby, although sometimes packed away for long periods of time. He recently "rediscovered" his collection, and ultimately decided it was time to give his autographed treasures a second life.
