In 1955 the Brooklyn Dodgers not only won the National League pennant, but 'Dem Bums finally went on to beat their crosstown pinstriped rivals from the Bronx in the World Series. It was one of the more memorable seasons and Fall Classics in baseball history, with the "Boys of Summer" capturing the hearts of baseball lovers everywhere.
Presented here are three full tickets from Game 1 at Yankee Stadium. Hall of Fame hurler Whitey Ford went eight strong for New York and picked up his second of ten career World Series victories. Joe Collins was the offensive hero for the Bombers, hitting two homers off Dodgers starter Don Newcombe. Jackie Robinsons courageously stole home in the eighth inning just ahead of Yogi Berra's tag to make the score 6-5, but that's as close as it got. Brooklyn fans were probably thinking, "Here we go again," but fortunately for 'Dem Bums the series went the distance and would turned out differently.
This trio of colorful tickets, each with the iconic Yankees logo, conjures up memories of those epic battles between a slew of legendary Hall of Famers on the hallowed grounds of Ebbets Field and Yankee Stadium. One of the three is a proof ticket, not valid for admission. A total of 17 full tickets from Game One have been authenticated by PSA. So all three of these are in extremely rare company.
