Tony Gwynn became a member of Major League Baseball’s exclusive “3,000 Hit Club” on August 6, 1999. Playing against the Montreal Expos in Olympic Stadium, Gwynn singled in his first at-bat, reaching down and lining a hit past second base on a 1-2 pitch from Expos right-hander Dan Smith, a rookie making his 11th career start. In doing so, Gwynn became the 22nd major leaguer to reach 3,000 hits, and the first National League player in 20 years to do so. This lot includes a Tony Gwynn autographed, fully intact game ticket from that memorable day, encapsulated in mint condition. Gwynn’s signature in black fine-point marker is stellar, rating a 9/10 in our book.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
