The great Tony Gwynn retired from Major League Baseball following the 2001 season. He finished his career with 3,141 hits including 2,378 singles and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, in his first year of eligibility. This lot includes a specially designed award made of beveled glass and black marble that was awarded to Gwynn at the Padres 4th MLB Alumni Day on August 18, 2007. It celebrates his Hall of Fame induction that year and reads: “TONY GWYNN, For a career of excellence in baseball, HOF 2007, Padres 4th MLB Alumni Day, August 18, 2007.” The piece measures 8” wide by 8.5” high.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens.
