The year 2001 marked the final season of Tony Gwynn’s incredible 20-year career as a member of the San Diego Padres. It also marked his final MLB All-Star Game appearance. The game, held at Seattle’s Safeco Field, was won by the American League All-Stars. 4-1, and the game’s MVP award went to Baltimore’s Cal Ripken Jr. This lot includes an official 2001 All-Star Game baseball signed in blue ink by 31 members of the National League team including manager Bobby Valentine on the sweet spot. Notable signatures on the baseball include starting pitcher Randy Johnson, Albert Pujols, Chipper Jones, Jeff Kent, Luis Gonzalez, Lance Berkman, Barry Bonds and Gwynn. Autographs are all solid and would rate 9/10 in our book.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
