In 2001, during his last season in the major leagues, perennial All-Star Tony Gwynn made the trek to Safeco Field as an honorary member of the All-Star team. This lot includes a special All-Star Game knife set that Gwynn was awarded in Seattle. The specially designed Laguiole knives, six in all, each measure just over nine inches in length with 4.5 inch blades. The collection of six knives comes inside a beautiful cherry wood box that measures 10.5 inches wide by six inches deep. On the inside of the box is a special gold plaque that reads: TONY GWYNN, SAN DIEGO PADRES, NATIONAL LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM, JULY 10, 2001, SAFECO FIELD, SEATTLE."

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
