Tony Gwynn was named to his 13th National League All-Star team in 1997. The game, played on July 8 at Jacobs Field in Cleveland, Ohio, saw the N.L. squad drop a tight, 3-1, decision to their American League counterparts. This lot includes a unique gift that was awarded to each member of the ’97 N.L. All-Star team: an electric Waterford light fixture that includes an engraved plaque that includes the N.L. logo and reads: “TONY GWYNN San Diego Padres 1997 All-Star Game.” The base is a combination of brass and marble while the decorative dome-style lamp shade is actually made of Waterford Crystal and measures 11” tall. It includes an electric cord, but does not include a light bulb.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
