In 1996, San Diego Padres right fielder Tony Gwynn batted .353 over 116 games with 159 hits. He also earned his 12th trip to the league’s annual All-Star Game but failed to play due to a nagging foot injury that put him on the disabled list for 30 days at mid-season. This lot includes a specially designed, wooden mini-grandfather Quartz that Gwynn was awarded for making that year’s National League All-Star team. The beautifully designed clock measures 11” wide by 17” high and includes a specially engraved gold plaque that reads: “TONY GWYNN, SAN DIEGO PADRES, National League All-Star Team, July 9, 1996, VETERANS STADIUM, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.”

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Gwynn Family.

A portion of the proceeds generated by the Tony Gwynn Collection will be donated to the Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation. The TAG Foundation is a non-profit, 5013(c) charity dedicated to creating and supporting programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens. The TAG Foundation was organized in San Diego in 1995 by Tony’s wife, Alicia. For more information, visit www.tagwynn2.org.
