Tommy John was a four-time MLB All-Star pitcher who played for six different teams between 1963 and 1989. His 288 career victories rank as the seventh highest total among southpaws in baseball history. He also had 188 career no decisions, which remains an all-time MLB record for starting pitchers. But the man is best known for a surgical procedure, now named after him, which was performed in 1975 on a damaged ligament in his pitching elbow. Countless pitchers have since had the surgery performed on them to extend their own careers.

This lot features John's 1979 A.L. Pitcher of the Month award watch he was presented following several solid performances in April for the New York Yankees. The stainless steel Seiko Quartz watch includes the American League banner and a baseball designed into the watch's face. Its adjustable wristband is engraved with the following text: "APRIL 1979, TOMMY JOHN, A.L. PITCHER OF THE MONTH." For the record, John posted a 4-0 record and 1.12 ERA in five starts that month. Comes inside its original blue Seiko Quartz case.

Includes LOA from Tommy John.
