Steve Sax earned his first All-Star appearance in 1982, his first full year with the L.A. Dodgers on his way to winning NL Rookie of the Year honors. In the '82 Midsummer Classic, held in Montreal's Olympic Stadium, he got his first ever All-Star game hit off longtime Royals pitcher and three-time All-Star, Dan Quisenberry. The National League emerged victorious in the contest, 4-1. The official 1982 ASG baseball is signed by Sax on the sweet spot in 9-10/10 blue ballpoint with a period notation (presumably from Sax or the clubby) describing his milestone ball. Ball comes with PSA/DNA authentication and LOA from Sax.

A portion of the auction proceeds from all items sold in the Steve Sax Collection will benefit the foundation named for Steve’s son, John, who was one of five U.S. Marines killed in a training flight accident in June 2022 in the California desert. The Capt. John J. Sax Foundation “serves to support those who choose to further their education, exploration and passion for flight."
