From his very own personal collection comes this group of (20) Steve Sax autographed 1982 rookie cards. All four card brands that issued RCs for the five-time All-Star second baseman are represented. Sax has inscribed each "1982 NL ROY" in honor of his amazing rookie campaign during which he batted .282 with 180 hits, 88 runs and 49 stolen bases. The cards include: two 1982 Topps Traded #103T, six 1982 Topps #681 (L.A. Dodgers Future Stars with Marshall/Roenicke/Sax), six 1982 Donruss #624, and six 1982 Fleer #21. The cards range mostly in VG-EX to EX-MT condition, with a couple faring slightly better or worse. Sax's signatures and inscriptions are mostly 9/10 in strength and eye appeal, with a few likely to earn Gem Mint 10 from PSA/DNA if submitted.
It should be known that Steve Sax signed each of these cards in our presence as part of SCP's offering of "The Steve Sax Collection." Each card has been screened by a PSA/DNA authenticator and we gaurantee them all to pass. Comes with LOA from Sax.
A portion of the auction proceeds from all items sold in the Steve Sax Collection will benefit the foundation named for Steve’s son, John, who was one of five U.S. Marines killed in a training flight accident in June 2022 in the California desert. The Capt. John J. Sax Foundation “serves to support those who choose to further their education, exploration and passion for flight."
