A truly unique action shot from the fourth game of the 1917 World Series. The location is New York’s Polo Grounds, the outfield stands are full and the old advertising signs make this one beautiful image. Action photos of games in progress from this era are rare – to find one of a World Series game in progress even more so. Joe Jackson and The Sox would eventually win the series, 4 games to 2. The photograph measures 8 x 10 and shows toning throughout. The edges show wear with some paper loss in the margin of the right side and some creasing on the top and bottom of the left side. The reverse carries the 10/11/1917 dated caption slug affixed along with Underwood & Underwood stamping and pencil notations. There is some adhesive staining present but none of this affects the image on the front. A rare look at a Deadball Era World Series game in progress that would be the cornerstone of any advanced photography collection. The photograph his been encapsulated and graded Type 1 Authentic by PSA.
