Baseball's Vic Wertz was a four time AL All-Star and perinnially among the league leaders in numerous categories. Despite his outstanding career and many accomplishments he is most associated with the long fly ball off of his bat as a Cleveland Indian in the 1954 World Series that Willie Mays made "The Catch" on.
Presented here are a couple of Vic's personal momentos from his post-playing career, when baseball still ruled the American sports lansdcape. Former players, especially stars like Wertz, were treated like royalty and simply had to flash these credentials to get into any ballpark!
Included are (2) metallic cards and (1) leather ID card from Mr. Wertz, one of the baseball heroes of summers past. There is also a small leather "wallet" that held the ID cards inscribed with Compliments of American League.
