With apologies to Honus Wagner, two more accomplished National League batters in history other than late superstars Stan Musial and Tony Gwynn would be hard to find. Musial, a career .331 batter for 22 seasons, and Gwynn, who averaged .338 over 20 seasons, won a collective 15 batting titles between them. When it came to getting hits, these guys defined the word clutch.
This lot features a pair of single-signed bats from the two sluggers. The Stan Musial model Hillerich & Bradsby ash bat, which measures 34 inches long, includes Musial’s signature in blue marker on the barrel below his engraved name with the added inscription “HOF 69” to acknowledge his induction into Cooperstown. The Gwynn Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick pro model bat, which measures 33.5” long, boasts Gwynn’s signature in blue marker on the barrel just below the “Big Stick” callout.
