The defending World Champion New York Yankees were if anything, even stronger in 1937. Joe DiMaggio, now in his second big league season, hit a resounding 46 home runs and batted .346. Veteran Lou Gehrig did the youngster better by hitting a majestic .351, while pitchers Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing won 21 and 20 games respectively. In the World Series the Yanks again faced their hometown rivals from the Polo Grounds and this time finished off the Giants in five games.

This absolutely stunning Spalding National League (Frick) ball contains the signatures of no less than 25 of the 1937 World Champion New York Yankees, including Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing, Lefty Gomez and Earle Combs plus Frank Makosky, Art Jorgens, Don Heffner, Myril Hoag, George Selkirk, Monte Pearson, Red Rolfe, Jack Saltzgaver, Johnny Murphy, Jake Powell, Kemp Wicker, Frank Crosetti, Ivy Andrews, Bump Hadley, Tommy Henrich and coaches Art Fletcher and John Schulte. The signature of the Joe McCarthy has been deemed a clubhouse. The ball is in absolutely beautiful condition - the ball is so well preserved and the black fountain pen signatures so sharp that it looks almost as if the ball was signed a week ago. The ball is housed in a partial vintage Spalding ONL box.
