It's hard to top this sports treasure for a USC football fan, or a Los Angeles sports fan, as along with the 1967 National Champs Trojans football squad inking the ball, two baseball coaching icons, Tommy Lasorda and Raoul "Rod" Dedeaux have signed as well.
Presumably the ball was inked at the time at an awards dinner or banquet, and the USC baseball Coach Dedeaux and his Dodger diamond buddy Tommy, then in the Dodgers organization as a minor league Manager, were on hand and also graced a separate panel of this pigskin with their penmanship.
Most notable is a special O.J. Simpson autograph, a very early example of the football great's penmanship. So early that it is signed as the rarely, if ever, seen "O. Jay Simpson." We haven't seen this style from Simpson, but he was just emerging on to the national sports landscape at the time in '67. Vintage!
Beyond the unique "O. Jay" example there are many that have signed the ball that went on to NFL careers. Especially cool is future NFL Head Coach and Executive Mike Holmgren, then a backup QB for the Trojans.
The autographs, in vintage ballpoint, could not be any nicer and the texture of the ball is perfectly suited for them. They all rate a 9-10/10. We are not kidding. This is just delightful as a collectible. Wow!
