The 1948 Bowman baseball card set is one of the most iconic issues of the hobby, the first mainstream collection to be distributed after World War II and the pioneer of the modern age of baseball cards. The original packs contained 5 cards and a whopping 3 sticks of gum. Dang! Good news for baseball fans... and dentists... in 1948.
The complete black & white set includes just 48 cards, but holds what are considered the rookie cards of Stan Musial, Yogi Berra, Bob Feller, Warren Spahn, Ralph Kiner, Phil Rizzuto, Red Schoendienst and Bobby Thomson, among others.
