In the 2002 NFL Pro Bowl, played February 9th at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, the American Football Conference (AFC) defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) by the score of 38-30. AFC starting quarterback Rich Gannon of the Oakland Raiders was named Player of the Game for the 2nd straight Pro Bowl after throwing for 2 TD's. The highlights of this group lot are Rich Gannon's actual 2002 Pro Bowl Player of the Game trophy and his 2002 Pro Bowl game-worn jersey from his MVP performance.

The heavy trophy with a marble base and metal football and star design weights 18.6 lbs. The black marble base measures approximately 10" by 8" (at widest and longest) and is 1.25" thick. A metal tag reads "2002 PRO BOWL PLAYER OF THE GAME - RICH GANNON OAKLAND RAIDERS - Honolulu, Hawaii - February 9, 2002." The metal football (most likely brass) has the Wilson brand and Commissioner Paul Tagliabue stampings on one side, with the two conferences stamped on the other, to replicate an official game ball (at least in slightly smaller dimensions). The large metal star stretches 11" at its longest wingspan. Just a beautiful original player trophy that comes as-issued and perfectly preserved.

The red and white colored Reebok jersey has Gannon's #12 front and back in red tackle twill outlined in black and white, with "GANNON" on the back in white tackle twill. His #12 also appears on both sleeves in white with black outline along with the Reebok logo patch. "ALL-STAR" is sewn in chest with "RAIDERS" and the 2002 Pro Bowl logo patch just above. Two Raiders logo patches adorn the top of each shoulder. Reebok manufacturer's patch on left shirttail with size 48 and 6" L.B. flag tags. Gannon has signed and inscribed "MVP" on the front '1' in 8-9/10 silver. The jersey shows light wear, as most Pro Bowl game-worn items do, for the intensity of the game is more touch than tackle. The consignor received Rich Gannon's 2002 Pro Bowl MVP trophy and game-worn jersey as gifts. The two had become friends over the course of several years that the consignor worked at NFL events, beginning with Gannon's 6 years with the Minnesota Vikings (1987-92).

Also included in this lot: an official 2002 Pro Bowl stamped football complete with Gannon’s signature and “12 MVP” inscription in silver; and an 8" by 10" color photo, signed by Gannon in blue, showing the MVP post-game with the keys to his new car and his trophy hardware, assisted by a native Hawaiian warrior. All autographs in this group rate 9/10.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
