Beautiful GD PSA 2 Full $15.00 ticket to the September 7, 1892 World Heavyweight Championship fight between legendary Champion John L. Sullivan and challenger "Gentleman Jim" Corbett held at the Olympic Club in New Orleans, Louisiana under electrically illuminated lights before 10,000 fans. The younger Corbett was much faster than Sullivan and used as more skilled boxing technique, in contrast to the Champion's crouch and rush style. In the 21st round Corbett landed a thunderous left that knocked the Champ to the canvas. He was counted out and Corbett named the new World's Heavyweight Champion. When Sullivan finally did get to his feet, he announced to the assembled crowd, "If I had to get licked I'm glad I was licked by an American." Crease free full ticket itself displays more VG-EX to EX than GD from the front with the main reason for the grade being a 1/2" piece of missing paper at the center of the back where it was glued into an album at one time. Amazing piece of Boxing History! Only 2 tickets rated higher by PSA.
