Lou Gehrig advertising Canadian softball equipment? Not exactly, but one can’t help but notice the un-named batter on this counter display bears an uncanny resemblance to the Yankees great. This 1940 Reach Wright & Ditson display measures approximately 12” x 19” and is die-cut for maximum eye appeal. The piece shows some minor edge wear along the bottom edge as would be expected for a piece designed to be displayed standing upright in the sporting goods section of a store.. There is some barely noticeable toning but no restoration work of any kid mars the striking visual appeal of the dynamic counter display. The piece has been professionally matted and framed with protective UV glass, further bringing out the color and beauty of this piece. The colors are brilliant and the shadowbox setting cause the image to pop out of its setting and delight the viewer. Apart from the minor wear in some of the edges, which is typical even in the best of the vintage die cut signs, this piece oterwise displays in Excellent to Near Mint condition. We have seen none other like it.  To read an article about this collection from Sports Collectors Daily, click here.
