Beautiful mid-1920’s photograph of Rogers Hornsby captured during his stint as player/manager for the St. Louis Cardinals. Hornsby served the dual role of player/manger for two seasons (1925-26) with the Cards, which included a World Championship in 1926. Hornsby’s signature and non-personalized “Best Wishes” salutation appear in black fountain pen on this 5” by 7” original photo, rating 8-9 out of 10 in boldness with the exception of some slight skipping in the “ge” of his first name. The photo itself exhibits outstanding contrast and clarity with no significant handling wear. Stamped on back by the Apex Photograph Company and the American League Service Bureau. Handwritten notation at top of back reads, “Rogers Hornsby: Mgr. St. Louis”. EX-MT to NM condition. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA.
