This remains one of the most desirable 1950's autographed cards of all, with only a handful of authentic examples confirmed. Clemente demonstrated a keen eye for aesthetics to produce maximum eye-appeal when he applied a stunning, circa 1955 blue ballpoint signature to this card. His signature rates 9/10 in our estimation in spite of the NM-MT 8 grade assigned by PSA/DNA. The card itself is in crease-free, VG condition due primarily to corner wear and centering deficiencies that are counter-balanced by exceptional image clarity and vibrant color. The back does show a light stain at the center. When completing a 1955 Topps autographed set, only the near-impossible Harry Agganis autographed card can compare to the rarity of a Roberto Clemente rookie. An absolute jewel in the category of signed baseball cards.
