Roberto Clemente was the first Latin American player to win a World Series as a starter (1960), the first to win a league MVP award (1966), and the first to be named World Series MVP (1971). In addition to wining two World Series, Clemente collected 12 Gold Gloves and four batting titles, and was selected to 12 All-Star teams. He was posthumously elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973, the only modern player whose mandatory five-year waiting period was waived. This 10K gold size 11 ring commemorates Clemente’s career, with his number “21” cast in gold on the top panel with 21 inlaid diamonds. “ROBERTO CLEMENTE” and his years of play “1955” to “1972” are cast around the “21” on this top panel. The left panel of the ring is devoted to his hitting prowess, with his career total of “3000 HITS” cast above an image of a baseball bat with the words “BATTING TITLES” underneath along with the years of his four batting titles, “1961”, “1964”, “1965”, and “1967”. His career batting average is below this, inscribed as “.317 B.A.”. The right panel has his name “ROBERTO CLEMENTE” above “1966 MVP”. Below that is a casting of his glove, underneath which are inscribed the words “12 GOLD GLOVES”. This is a limited edition ring, which is numbered “017/200” as an inscription on the inside of the ring, where “LGB 10K” is also inscribed. The ring is essentially as-issued and problem-free condition.
