1) Washington Hall of Stars induction ring given to Red Auerbach for his many contributions to the Washington, DC area. Auerbach graduated from George Washington University in 1941 and later coached the Washington Capitols for 3 years, finishing first overall in the BAA for the 1946-47 season and winning the Eastern Conference title in 1948-49. Top of ring features a red stone with "Washington" at top and "Hall of Stars" below. Relief of capitol building on one side with athlete with upraised arms on the other. Stamped on the inside is "Arnold Red Auerbach" and "Sedco 14K". Size 11 1/2.
2) Red Auerbach's Washington Hall of Stars induction certificate. Auerbach was among the first class inducted November 18, 1979. Induction is for "those "who have contributed to the sports history of the District of Columbia". Mention is also made to Auerbach's coaching the Washington Capitols and being a member of the NBA Hall of Fame. Certificate appears about NM with a little foxing at the lower right edge and has been framed to a size of 13 1/2" by 16 1/2". Some chipping to black border of frame.
Includes a letter of provenance from the Auerbach estate.
