Some have called it the ultimate act of arrogance, others called it confidence, but Red Auerbach’s famous act of lighting up a “victory cigar” on the bench late in games when he felt that victory was assured, became Auerbach’s hallmark and the one thing for which he is most remembered, loved and hated for. As famous as he was for his basketball acumen, he was conjointly famous as a cigar smoker.

This 11” by 8” by 4-1/2” cigar humidor was presented to Red Auerbach on April 27th, 1965 in recognition of his 8th World Championship with the Boston Celtics as commemorated by the engraved brass plaque that sits on top of the lid at center. This incredible keepsake emerges from the Red Auerbach estate and includes documentation as such. A historically important and functional personal memento owned and used by the architect of the greatest dynasty in basketball history.

Includes a LOA from the Red Auerbach estate.
