Red Auerbach disciple Tommy Heinsohn coached the East team to a 123-109 victory over the West at Philadelphia's Spectrum in the 1976 NBA All-Star Game. Former Pistons great Dave Bing, playing for the Washington Bullets near the end of his career, showed his old form, scoring 16 points, with 4 assists, and was named the game's MVP. Buffalo's Bob McAdoo led the East in scoring with 22 points. Boston's Dave Cowens chipped in with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Starring for the West were Los Angeles's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who recorded 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Golden State's Rick Barry, who added 17 points. This scarcely seen All-Star presentation piece, from the personal collection of Red Auerbach, is a heavy 7" by 7" by 3" piece of etched glass. It features a 3-dimensional game scene and titling that reads, "26th Annual NBA All-Star Game Philadelphia February 3, 1976." The substantial piece weighs a hefty thirteen pounds. Includes a letter of provenance from the Auerbach estate.
